Pop TV won’t be the only place to see One Day at a Time when the sitcom officially moves from Netflix to linear TV next week.
ViacomCBS sibling networks TV Land and Logo will simulcast the comedy’s March 24 premiere, Pop announced today. Subsequent episodes will air only on Pop TV each week.
As part of the announcement, Pop also released the trailer for the critically acclaimed comedy’s fourth season.
Last June, Pop picked up One Day at a Time three months after Netflix had canceled the show, making it the first series to move from a streaming outlet to a linear network after cancellation.
The series is a Cuban-American reboot of Norman Lear’s 1975 sitcom about a single mom (Justina Machado) raising her two kids with help from her live-in mom (Rita Moreno). As part of the Pop deal, CBS—which aired the original series—will broadcast Season 4 later in 2020, after it airs on Pop.
Since the deal was closed, CBS merged with Viacom to create ViacomCBS. As part of a ViacomCBS leadership consolidation, Pop was moved under the purview of Chris McCarthy, president of entertainment and youth brands at ViacomCBS’ domestic media networks, who also oversees MTV, VH1, CMT, Logo, Comedy Central, TV Land, Paramount Network and the Smithsonian Channel.
