Dick Wolf, longtime TV producer and the mastermind behind Law & Order, is going to be developing a series of dramatized crime podcasts.

The podcasts will be financed and produced by Endeavor Audio, a new audio storytelling company from Endeavor, an entertainment-focused holding group with Ari Emanuel at the top.

Production company Magical Elves’ Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz will co-produce the first podcast.

“The crime genre transcends all platforms,” Wolf said in a news release. “Partnering with Endeavor Audio and Magical Elves allows us to develop new ways to tell crime stories, and I am looking forward to producing true crime drama for a new and diverse audience.”

The number of podcast listeners continues to rise, according to the Pew Research Center. This year, 44 percent of Americans ages 12 and up said they had listened to a podcast before, an increase from the previous year by four percentage points.

WME, an Endeavor company, has already been in the business of representing and developing a number of podcasts, including Crooked Media’s Pod Save America and Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History.

Endeavor Audio aims to capitalize on its network with Endeavor and work with creators, production companies and studios.

In addition to the project with Wolf, Endeavor Audio will also manage, distribute, monetize and market a series of podcasts for Mass Appeal media company.

It will also monetize and distribute Parcast, a podcast network, and the second season of Limetown, a fictional podcast that is being made into a book.

“Our aim is to elevate audio as a storytelling platform for the entertainment industry,” said Endeavor Audio general manager Moses Soyoola, in a statement. “While the medium is growing rapidly, there remains huge opportunity to innovate and be ‘first’ in the category. We want to help creators of all kinds explore and develop audio entertainment that reaches new audiences the podcast community hasn’t spoken to before.”
